The Glory of Volubilis
After breakfast, we depart the mountains for Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most significant Roman archaeological site in Morocco. Established in the 40s BC, these vast ruins sit amidst beautiful green fields and feature stunningly preserved palaces, thermal baths, and world-class mosaics that tell the story of the Roman Empire’s southern reach.
Meknes: The Imperial Gate
Next, we visit Meknes, one of Morocco’s four Imperial cities. We’ll view the monumental Bab al-Mansour gate and take a short city tour to appreciate the 17th-century grandeur of Sultan Moulay Ismail’s capital.

The Journey South
After breakfast, we depart from Fes and begin our ascent into the Middle Atlas Mountains. While today’s drive is approximately seven hours, the dramatic shift in Moroccan landscapes ensures a captivating journey.
The Moroccan Switzerland
Our first stop is Ifrane, a town often referred to as the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco. Known for its alpine-style chalets, pristine parks, and European climate, it offers a startling contrast to the medieval city you left behind.
Ancient Cedars & Barbary Macaques
We continue to the ancient Cedar Forest of Azrou. Here, you will have the opportunity to admire the majestic Atlas cedars and meet the local Barbary macaques. These wild monkeys are known for their friendly nature and are always happy to greet travelers.

Absolutely. We specialize in private, tailor-made tours. While the 9-day route from Tangier is designed to show you the best of Morocco, we are happy to modify it to suit your “taste” and interests. Common customizations include:
Pace. Adding an extra night in the Blue City (Chefchaouen) or Marrakech for more relaxation.
Special Interests. Swapping a standard city tour for a cooking class, a photography workshop, or a traditional Hammam experience.
Logistics. Starting in Tangier but ending in Casablanca or Fes instead of Marrakech.
Accommodations. Upgrading to specific luxury Riads or choosing family-friendly hotels with pools.
Just let us know your requirements when you contact us, and we will refine the itinerary until it is perfect for you.
Tipping is a standard part of Moroccan culture. While entirely optional, a general guideline is 10–15% for meals. For your driver/guide, who will be with you for 9 days, a tip of $15–$25 USD per day from the group is a common way to show appreciation for excellent service.
Absolutely. This tour is private, meaning we move at your family’s pace. The monkey sightings in the Cedar Forest, the camel rides, and the “Star Wars” film sets in Ouarzazate are consistently huge hits with kids.
Yes. On Day 3 (Fes) and Day 7 (Marrakech), we provide certified local city guides. These experts help you navigate the winding medinas, explain the history of the palaces, and help you avoid the common “hassle” of the souks.
Morocco is a conservative but welcoming country. In cities like Fes and Marrakech, it’s best to keep shoulders and knees covered. For the desert, bring layers—it can be very hot during the day and surprisingly chilly at night, especially between October and March.

Most of our hotels and Riads have excellent Wi-Fi. In the Sahara, cell service is surprisingly good, though the Wi-Fi at the desert camp may be slower than in the cities. We recommend a local SIM card for the most reliable connection.
Forget “roughing it.” Our luxury camps in Merzouga feature spacious private tents with “real” beds, high-quality linens, en-suite bathrooms, and hot showers. You’ll also enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars with live Berber music.
No problem! While the camel trek is a classic experience, we also provide 4×4 transfers directly to the luxury desert camp at no extra cost. You can still enjoy the sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes without the ride. But we encourage you to give it go.
Not at all. Day 8 is designed for those who want to see the Atlantic coast. If you prefer more time to explore the souks of Marrakech or want a relaxing spa/hammam day instead, we can leave that day open for you to enjoy at your own pace.
This 9-day tour covers a significant portion of Morocco. While some days (like the Fes to Merzouga leg) involve about 7 hours of travel, we break up the journey with frequent stops at scenic viewpoints, historical sites, and local villages. Our comfortable, air-conditioned 4x4s or mini-vans ensure the ride is as relaxing as possible.
