Join Perfectly Morocco Tours for a desert expedition from Fes and enter a world of wonder in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara.
Fes is the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. Starting here allows you to immerse yourself in the world’s oldest living Medina before heading south. Additionally, Fes is the closest Imperial City to the Sahara Desert, making the drive to the Merzouga dunes much shorter and more comfortable than starting from Casablanca or Marrakech.
We offer full door-to-door service. Our driver will pick you up directly from your Riad or Hotel in the Fes Medina. If your accommodation is in a car-free zone, we will meet you at the nearest accessible gate. We also provide pickups from the Fes-Saïss Airport (FEZ) for those arriving just before their tour begins.
Yes! Chefchaouen is roughly a 3.5-hour drive from Fes. We offer both dedicated day trips to the Blue City and multi-day itineraries that include Chefchaouen before heading toward the desert or Casablanca.
The drive from Fes to the Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) dunes takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. While it is a travel day, the route is stunning. We stop at the Ifrane (the “Switzerland of Morocco”), the Cedar Forest to see wild monkeys, and the panoramic Ziz Valley oasis to break up the journey.
It depends on your travel plans! Many travelers prefer the Fes to Marrakech route because it allows you to see the Sahara and the Atlas Mountains while traveling between the two major cities. However, if your flight departs from Fes, our round-trip desert tours are designed to show you a different scenic route on the way back.
Yes! Almost all our tours departing Fes travel through the Azrou Cedar Forest. We always make a stop here so you can see and photograph the Barbary Macaques in their natural habitat.
Yes. Unlike many other operators, Perfectly Morocco Tours includes all entrance fees to historical sites and monuments mentioned in your itinerary (such as the Madrasas in Fes or the Kasbahs in the south). There are no hidden costs at the ticket booths.
Our Fes tour packages include private transportation in a high-end 4×4 or minivan, a professional multilingual driver/guide, all accommodations (Riads and Luxury Desert Camps), daily breakfast, dinners in the desert and mountains, and all entrance fees to included attractions.
All our tours from Fes are 100% private. You will have your own dedicated vehicle and driver. This allows for a completely flexible schedule—if you want to spend an extra hour in a certain village or stop for a coffee with a view, you have the freedom to do so.
Fes and the Atlas Mountains can be cool in the mornings, while the desert is hot during the day. We recommend “layering.” Modest clothing (covering shoulders and knees) is recommended for the Fes Medina and rural villages. Don’t forget a warm jacket if you are traveling between October and April, as desert nights can be cold!
Most of our vehicles are equipped with a mobile hotspot. Please note that the signal can be intermittent when crossing the High Atlas Mountains or in deep desert valleys, but we do our best to keep you connected throughout the journey.
