Paragliding in Marrakech is a tandem flight experience that takes place in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. The primary launch sites are located approximately 45 to 60 minutes from the city center, typically on the Kik Plateau or near the village of Aguergour. These areas are utilized due to their elevation and the consistent thermal wind conditions required for powerless flight.
The activity is designed for individuals with no prior paragliding experience. Each participant is paired with a certified pilot—often licensed by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI)—who manages the equipment, navigation, and safety procedures throughout the flight. A typical excursion functions as a half-day trip, covering the drive to the mountains, a mandatory safety briefing, and the flight itself, which generally lasts between 15 and 30 minutes depending on weather conditions.

Unlike more intensive aviation sports, paragliding in this region focuses on a gradual descent and soaring over the rural landscape. From the air, the flight provides views of the Atlas mountain range, the Lalla Takerkoust lake, and traditional Berber villages. Because paragliding is highly dependent on wind speed and direction, flights are subject to last-minute rescheduling or cancellation to ensure passenger safety.
Flights are subject to weather conditions. If wind conditions aren’t safe, your flight will be rescheduled or refunded.
Requirements
What to Bring
Paragliding is a highly regulated activity, and safety is dictated by strict weather protocols and physical requirements.
Weather Dependency. Paragliding requires specific wind speeds and directions. If conditions are deemed unsafe by the pilots—due to high winds, rain, or lack of visibility—flights will be delayed, rescheduled, or canceled for a full refund.
Physical Requirements. Participants should be in reasonable physical health. While no athletic expertise is required, you must be able to run a few meters during takeoff and landing.
Weight Limits. For safety reasons related to equipment capacity, there is a weight limit, typically between 100kg and 110kg (220–240 lbs).
Age and Health Restrictions. The minimum age for participants is 12 years old. Individuals with serious heart conditions, significant back injuries, or severe vertigo should consult a doctor before booking.
