A Modern Welcome
Upon your arrival at Mohamed V International Airport, you will be met by your private driver to begin your 7-Day Ultimate Morocco Discovery. Casablanca is the kingdom’s bustling economic heart and its most cosmopolitan city, offering a unique blend of Art Deco elegance and modern Moroccan energy.
The Grand Hassan II Mosque
Our exploration begins with a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque. As one of the largest and most spectacular mosques in the world, it is an architectural masterpiece featuring a 210-meter minaret and intricate craftsmanship that sits dramatically on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
Coastal Charm & Cultural Fusion
We will take a scenic drive along the Ain Diab Corniche, enjoying the sea breeze and the multicultural atmosphere that defines this city. Unlike the medieval centers of the interior, Casablanca provides a “vacation tour” feel with its wide boulevards and coastal views.
Evening at Leisure
After checking into your hotel, take the evening to relax or stroll through the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, preparing for your journey north toward the Rif Mountains tomorrow.
Rabat: The Coastal Capital
After breakfast, we travel to Rabat, Morocco’s refined political capital and one of the four Imperial Cities. We’ll explore the city’s most prestigious landmarks, including the 12th-century Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas (Oudaia), with its iconic blue-and-white streets and Andalusian gardens overlooking the Atlantic.
The Ruins of Volubilis
From Rabat, we drive inland for approximately two hours to reach the UNESCO World Heritage site of Volubilis. Dating back to the 4th century BC, this is one of the finest and most extensive examples of Roman ruins in North Africa. Nestled among serene green fields, you will wander through ancient palaces, middle-class villas, and thermal baths, all remarkably preserved with spectacular original mosaics.
Imperial Meknes
Our journey continues to Meknes, another of the Kingdom’s great Imperial Cities. We will make a brief stop to admire the monumental Bab Mansour gate and the impressive ramparts that surround the old city.
Arrival in Fes
After lunch and a short exploration of Meknes’ highlights, we complete the final leg of the day’s drive to Fes, the spiritual heart of Morocco. You will check into your Riad for the night, nestled within the ancient walls of the Medina.
The Labyrinth of Fes el-Bali
Your third day is dedicated to an immersive exploration of the world’s oldest living medieval city. Accompanied by a local specialist, you will step into a “fairy-tale” atmosphere as you navigate the narrow, winding streets of the Medina. This UNESCO World Heritage site serves as a monument to the Merenid and Alaouite dynasties, showcasing the finest examples of Moorish architecture.
Architectural Masterpieces
We visit the stunning Bou Inania Madrasa, an architectural jewel known for its intricate cedar carvings and zellij tilework. You will also experience Nejjarine Square, home to the famous 18th-century fountain and the Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts, reflecting the timeless elegance of Moroccan design.
The Artisan Quarters
We head deep into the heart of the souks to visit the handicraft quarters. Here, you will witness skills passed down through generations—from the rhythmic hammering of metalworkers to the master potters. A highlight is the visit to the iconic tanneries, where leather is still processed using traditional methods that have remained unchanged for centuries.
The Mellah & Cultural Coexistence
Later, we explore the Mellah, the historical Jewish Quarter. This area stands as a powerful testament to Morocco’s history of religious coexistence, where Jewish and Muslim communities lived and thrived side-by-side. You will see the unique architecture of the Jewish houses, characterized by their external balconies, which contrast beautifully with the traditional inward-facing Medina homes.
The Grand Saharan Traverse
After breakfast, we depart from the spiritual capital of Fes for our most ambitious journey. While the drive to the desert takes approximately 7 hours, the dramatic and ever-changing Moroccan landscapes—from alpine forests to rocky plains—ensure the time flies by.
The Moroccan Switzerland
Our first major stop is Ifrane, a town that surprises many with its European-style chalets, pristine parks, and cool mountain climate. Often called the “Moroccan Switzerland,” it serves as a stunning contrast to the medieval streets you’ve left behind.
Wildlife in the Cedar Forests
We continue into the heart of the Middle Atlas to visit the ancient groves of Ifrane National Park near Azrou. Here, you can walk among breathtaking Atlas cedars and interact with the playful Barbary macaques, who are famously friendly and love being pampered with treats.
The Ziz Valley Transition
Following a lunch stop in the apple-growing town of Midelt, we descend through the spectacular Ziz Valley. As we pass the town of Errachidia, the environment shifts dramatically into a true desert valley, revealing the first golden horizons of the Sahara.
A Magical Desert Arrival
We reach Merzouga by late afternoon. From here, you will choose your preferred transportation—a traditional camel trek or a 4×4 vehicle—to reach your camp deep within the towering Erg Chebbi dunes. You will conclude the day by witnessing a transformative Saharan sunset before spending a magical night under the stars.
A Saharan Sunrise
We begin the day early to witness the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, a moment of profound peace and natural beauty. After breakfast, we depart the desert for the next leg of our journey toward the Dades Valley.
Rissani & The Fossil Heritage
We stop in Rissani, the historical foundation of the Alaouite dynasty and a famed fossil hub. You will visit a local fossil workshop to see ancient remains unearthed from the region and explore the town’s authentic market.
Tinghir & The Todra Canyons
Our route continues to Tinghir, where we pause to admire the panoramic views of the massive palm oasis. We then enter the Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon with limestone walls rising 300 meters high. You will have time to walk along the riverbed and experience the sheer scale of the rock formations.
Dades Valley Exploration
We conclude the day by traveling through the Dades Valley, famous for its “Thousand Kasbahs” and unique geological structures known as the “Monkey Fingers.” You will spend the night in a hotel overlooking the lush valley landscape.
The Valley of Roses & Skoura Oasis
We begin our day with a short drive to the Dades Gorges before continuing toward Kalaat M’Gouna. This town is the heart of the “Rose Valley,” famous for its annual rose festival celebrating the fragrant harvest. Our route leads us through the lush Skoura Oasis, a verdant landscape of palm groves and ancient irrigation systems that have thrived in the desert climate for centuries.
Ouarzazate: The Hollywood of Morocco
A 20-minute drive from the oasis brings us to Ouarzazate. Known to cinephiles as the “Hollywood of Morocco,” this city has hosted the production of countless historical epics. We will visit the historic Kasbah Taourirt, a vital part of the city’s heritage, and explore the Cinema Museum and the Atlas Film Studios where movie magic happens.
Ait Ben Haddou: A UNESCO Jewel
We continue to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a breathtaking fortified village (ksar) recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Famed for its golden-hued earthen architecture, it has served as a stunning backdrop for films like Gladiator and the series Game of Thrones. This site was once a critical trading post on the historic caravan route connecting the Sahara and sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech.
Crossing the High Atlas Mountains
After exploring the Ksar, we begin our ascent of the High Atlas Mountains via the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters, this road offers some of the most beautiful panoramic views in Morocco—featuring green river valleys, traditional adobe villages, and ancient fortress ruins.
Arrival in the Red City
After a scenic 4-hour drive, we arrive in Marrakech. You will check into your hotel for a well-deserved rest, with free time in the evening to begin exploring the vibrant city at your own pace.
A Day of Imperial Splendor
On the final day of your 7-Day Tour from Casablanca, we dedicate our time to the “Red City” of Marrakech. After breakfast, you will meet your local guide to explore this former imperial capital. With a history shaped by three major dynasties, the city is a living masterpiece of museums and architectural monuments where every structure is a work of art.
Monumental Discovery
Our morning is spent visiting the city’s most iconic sites. We begin at the Koutoubia Mosque, the city’s landmark minaret, followed by the Menara Pavilion set amidst expansive olive groves. We then explore the Saadian Tombs, a stunning display of architectural finesse, the intricate Bahia Palace, and the historic ruins of El Badii Palace. We conclude the morning with a visit to the tranquil, cobalt-blue Majorelle Gardens.
The Living Heart of the Medina
In the afternoon, we dive into the Souks, the most vibrant and colorful markets in Morocco. You will navigate the maze of alleys filled with artisan crafts and the intoxicating scent of spices before reaching the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.
An Authentic Spectacle
Jemaa el-Fnaa is an open-air theater. Here, you will experience the pulse of Marrakech: snake charmers, traditional healers, storytellers, and merchants of exotic fruits and spices. It is a sensory journey that brings the ancient soul of the city to life, providing a grand finale to your Moroccan adventure.
